Inspirational Fictional Women

Let's talk about inspirational guidance in the form of fictional characters. There are two women from films that come to mind quickest that hold qualities I admire and lifestyles I'd like to embody. I hope this list will grow as I become an even more unique and complicated person.

The first fictional woman is Sally from Practical Magic, played by Sandra Bullock.

She is a gardener, herbalist, romantic, and has a strong sense of family. She grows herbs and plants in a small greenhouse attached to the house and ends up opening a shop in town that carries items such as her, "mint-oatmeal shaving cream."

I also enjoy the earthy fashion seen in this movie. I love how Sally wears clothing in her store that matches her product and always looks clean and natural.

A woman like Sally is definitely someone to emulate. I would love a life like hers, and gain the skills she possesses. (All pictures from www.fanpop.com)

My next fictional woman (and final, for now) is Miss Honey from Matilda:

She's sweet, caring, righteous, and all-around just the way a person should be. She listens and believes Matilda in a way that most adults don't when it comes to children, but should. She's the definition of a good person.

She also has one of the most storybook cottages ever seen onscreen. I suppose it's supposed to represent her modest living because of her aunt taking her childhood home from her, but in actuality, it becomes greater (in my eyes) than anything the mansion could attain to.

Aside from how dark it seems to be inside, the cottage is a beautiful representation of the cottage lifestyle, something I've been drawn to lately.

The actress, Embeth Davidtz is incredibly gorgeous as well: in looks, voice, and manner. She encompasses qualities I admire and strive for: politeness, maturity, natural beauty, confidence.

It's important for me to surround myself in people I admire, even if they're fictional representations. What skills do you most admire in others? Who are your women of inspiration?

A Blog for a New Beginning

Listening to the rain pour outside my window this day in early September, I begin the duty of recreating myself. As a friend told me recently, I'm not to "find" myself; I must create myself. There are many areas of change I'd like to pursue, and I hope you'll be my guidebook and companion. Anyone found lingering along the path I'll travel is welcome to walk beside me.
